Wheel of Change Tarot - Two of Wands

This card shows two salamanders crawling over a blanket of autumn colored leaves set against a starry night sky.

The Book says: This card symbolizes growth of the spirit and yearning for unification with it opposite and with others of its kind . . . the interaction of opposites will lead to a higher order and a higher level of development . . . journeying of the spirit. When we set out on a journey of the spirit we turn inward first and then reach out to our loved ones, with whom we have experienced an inner merging.

Bee's Buzz: This card speaks to me of partnership and companionship. There are two salamanders making this journey across the leaves. It reminds me that no one wants to be truly alone in our journey through life. Without some interaction with others we would wither just as the autumn leaves soon will. The salamanders and the deep golden colors of the leaves also remind me of the richness and beauty present in a truly complementary partnership. Whenever we are inspired to try something new it can feel like a fire burning through the system. When we get excited about a new project we are "on fire". To be dedicated to an objective is seen as having a fire in the belly. However one chooses to describe it, the feeling is one that is probably familiar to many. Even those of who aren't writers, artists or poets have probably experienced a moment like that. A time when you were excited, enthusiastic and aflame with the desire, the need, the passion to manifest this vision into reality. Because of the sense of balance and partnership in this card is seems to add a solid, earthy quality to the fiery creative spirit. And salamanders are often viewed as creatures that can travel through the fire and survive. This is certainly an appropriate totem for the energies present in the Two of Wands.
