Tarot of the Gnomes - Three of Wands
by Antonio Lupatelli
Publisher: Lo Scarabeo
ISBN 0-7387-0057-6

A gnome woman carries a bundle of wood on her back - a heavy load, but within her capability. She wears a red hat, blue and white striped dress, white shirt and a brown overdress. Her shoes appear to be wooden. The label at the bottom says "worry".

LWB: Toil today to reap the fruits of tomorrow. Preparation.

This really is quite a load for this poor little gnome. The look in her eye is startled and indeed, worry. Is she concerned that the observer will think she is lazy? Not likely there. Is she embarrassed at being caught at work? Maybe like the Brownies of legend, she is to work unseen.

The wood is unfinished, just has been cut or picked up from the ground. No craftsmanship like we saw in the 2. No skill, just hard grunt work, necessary for the running of the house. What are we getting ready for?
