Blue Rose Tarot - Three of Wands

3 of Wands shows us young dancers wearing traditional Balinese garb. They are very youthful but seem confident of their abilities and skills. Their decorative skirts and bright tops make a lovely contrast set against the large white egg resting in the darkness behind them. Their headdresses are so ornate and appear so heavy it is a wonder they can hold up their heads. A stone pillar rests on the left side of the card and the steps they descend are also stone.
The Book says: It is in the Three that we see the first fruit of that potent combination of inspiration, idea, skill and raw materials. What do we learn from the Three? Well, for one thing, for the first time, we see the compelling triad the first three cards make. The Ace represents that first glimmer, that first creative spark of an idea. The Two represents hearing the call of that idea and, like some cosmic chef, assembling the necessary ingredients and setting the stage for the ingredients to come together. The Three represents the jelling of these ingredients ... a jelling where the individual ingredients can no longer be easily distinguished and where such a distinction is no longer important. Because what happens in the threes is that the whole does indeed become greater than the sum of its parts.
Bee's Buzz: Looking at this card, the first thing that struck me is the youth and confidence of the dancers. They seem self-assured and ready to perform. Many traditional forms of dance, such as Cambodian, Balinese and Thai, have almost become lost over the years. Political upheaval and lack of interest among the young have all but condemned this knowledge to the dust heap. But these girls have dedicated themselves to the years of study, focus and dedication needed to acquire this knowledge and share it with the world. They have manifested the magic and beauty of Balinese dance so that others can experience it. They are also an inspiration to those who see them. If these young women can master such a difficult and challenging skill, then what wonders can we accomplish. We too can learn to focus the seeds of our inspiration, our creative energy and our passion into a form which can be shared with the world. We can learn how to bedazzle ourselves and others with our brilliance. But of course we have to be willing to put in the hard work, effort and dedication needed to achieve this brilliance. The 3 of Wands isn't afraid of hard work. And it can help us to not be afraid as well. It is that melding of creative energy and physical skill, of inspiration and dedication. The key to the 3 of Wands is learning to combine these two forces and forging them into a greater whole.
