Description: The wands in this card are flags, raised against a starry sky. Nine flags fly beneath one big flag with a picture of the world on it. The flags beneath the world flag are Greece, Australia, India, China, United States, Switzerland, Brazil, Kazakhstan, and Israel.
The word that jumped into my head when I looked at this card was “unity”.
There is no little white book for this deck; only a fantastically-written yet very wordy companion book. The book gives the essential meaning of the card as “patriotism”, and offers some very interesting insights into this topic, especially given our current world situation. For example: “We need to establish a new relationship to pride and victory that allows us to claim our own power but does not crush the strength of others in the process.” This card instructs us to take pride in our accomplishments without putting ourselves or others down, and without comparing our work to others. “When whole countries discover the ability to stop comparing…we may have the ability to reach out without jealousy, hatred, and bad intent to other countries in order to help build a more perfect, beautiful, united world — a world in which our unique strengths are recognized but in which we all acknowledge our ultimate responsibility to the earth.”
This is a completely different take on the 10 of Wands for me, but I like it. Patriotism, yet still community and unity between nations. A nice concept for this day and age.
Peace,
