Whimsical Tarot - Six of Rods

Scene: Dorothy, from The Wizard of Oz
In a pretty garden glade, a dark-haired girl closes her eyes in concentration. She wears a blue and white gingham dress, white stockings, and blue bows in her hair. Her dog, a small black terrier, rests in a basket in her arms. The girl clicks together the heels of her ruby slippers, which glow in response. A rainbow in the distance arcs over her head.
Like the rest of the Rods in this deck, the card border is orange with vines in autumn colors. Suit symbols frame the image.
LWB: A battle well-fought; a well-deserved victory.
Book Excerpts:
“When the Six of Rods marches into your spread, it’s time to take a long, deep breath. The scent of victory is in the air, and its perfume belongs to you. The things for which you’ve worked so hard are yours now. You’ve finally won the war, and no one can take that away from you.”
“Understand that true victory is much more than winning the game or using perfect strategy. It’s the way you behave at the awards ceremony that really tells the tale.”
My take on it:
Dorothy, bored with life on the farm, got more than she bargained for when she wished for adventure. She held fast to her ideals, made some friends and allies along the way, and kept to her path despite setbacks and distractions. At the point in the story pictured here, she’s finally collecting her reward – a return to the very home and family she had originally sought to escape.
Take stock of what’s most important in your life, set goals for your ideal self, and keep moving toward those goals. You can get there, one step at a time.
