Rohrig Tarot - Seven of Wands
Carl Rohrig Bluestar Communications, 1995
This card is beautiful. In the border above the picture it says "valor". Below, a man is leaping from one cliff to another. His body is bathed in light, suspended between the two. Below him, the sky becomes purple. 7 iridescent wands hang in the sky. Beneath that, the sky becomes dark and star-filled. The background turns to notebook paper at the top and bottom. The word "valour" is written on both ends, as well as other words such as "tapferkeit" and "Risikoberietschaft". It also says "no compromises" in both languages.
LWB: fighting against resistance, courage, taking risks is rewarded.
My take: This may be my favorite 7 of wands. For once the person is not defending (or attacking) and yet his bravery and courage is apparent. It reminds me of Spider Man (I saw Spider Man 2 yesterday!) leaping across buildings. Peter Parker is a perfect example for the 7 of wands. His bravery is not just in fighting bad guys, but more so in his willingness to search his identity for the truth of himself, and in his attempt to fuse the two identities into one. Sometimes valor doesn't have to be directed against others. In this card, the figure is taking a chance, doing something they believe is right, whether others agree or not. That is valor.
