Fey Tarot - Seven of Wands

Description: A green female Fey, armed with bucklers and a quarterstaff, defends a small fruit tree from four shadowy bat-like creatures.
Simple Meaning: “Defence, value, protection, care, sacrifice, being on the right side.”
Advanced Meaning: “This card recalls the fight of good against evil and the need for courage and valour. The true enemy is often fear, because adversaries have no real substance. If this fear is defeated one can acquire the strength to resist any assault.”
My take on it: Rather than the anonymous "high ground" being defended in many cards, this Fey is actually protecting something special and precious (the rare fruit on the tree). What she's defending against isn't as clear. The flying creatures are only vague dark blobs with long tails, skeletal wings, and yellow dots for eyes. She's outnumbered and alone, so whatever these things are, they're something she must face down by herself. Is the little tree hers, or merely something helpless that needs defending? Or has she misunderstood the dark things' intentions, and it actually belongs to them? Has she judged the bright fruit tree to be Good and the creatures Evil based only on appearances, or does she really know which side is which? In any case, she's chosen one side over the other, and is defending her chosen position. Whether that choice is right or wrong remains to be seen.
