In the Fairy Tarot, Wands have been replaced by Acorns, and are associated with the Element of Air. Seven acorns are arranged pip-style on the upper half of the card. The lower half shows a tiny male pixie, nude except for a hat and butterfly wings, riding sidesaddle on a black beetle. The pair are heading away from us, toward a sunrise/sunset in the distance.
Excerpts from the book:
“This Fairy has good reason to be satisfied: his friendship or alliance with such a creature is undoubtably advantageous to him in his daily life in the forest, which is not always without its dangers. … Sharpen your wits, the situation is not as tranquil as it seems to be and those who wish to strike are well-trained. You will need all of your will and even outside support from friends or family, or a qualified and specific assistance.
Card upright: temporary success for a wicked person; unexpected betrayal; robbery; a danger.
Reversed: a success that costs a sacrifice; momentary victory; indisposition.”
My take on it:
While a lot of RWS decks imply some kind of lone conflict in the Seven of Wands, this one recommends getting by with a little help from your friends. (There’s a beetle pun there somewhere, isn’t there? hehe) When you’re as tiny as a fairy, just about anything can be big trouble, but a little effort from a lot of people can add up to great accomplishments indeed.
