In her introduction to her book about the Haindl Tarot Rachel Pollack states: "Hermann Haindl has created these pictures. Following his guidance i have interpreted them. Both of us hope and expect that each person who enters their world will find a fresh meaning."

I don't want to bore you with all the common meanings of this card , that everybody else by now explained several times. I only want to give you an impression how Haindl understood it's meaning and manifested his understanding of the High Priestess. The figure in this card is almost invisible. What you see from afar is a foggy shade of different blues and light with something dark and green at the bottom. The impression of darkness comes from a river that flows toward you. It's water is dark blue, but reflecting the light. The stream of unconsciousness looks dark as long as we are unaware of it. In the center of the picture lies a white camel connecting water and earth, but also representing light. It is turning it's head away from us and looking back to the horizon. On top of his back this camel is carrying a shinny ball of light, glass or air. The ball is empty and reflecting the light coming from above and from the sides. Behind the ball, rising out of the landscape like being made of water, air and light stands the High Priestess. Her body is sky, water and light, only her head and her hands are visible. She is not separated from the elements, she is One with the Divine and can take on every shape. Her hands are protecting the ball of light in front of her or she is using her hands like a seer. She has stigmata of light in her palms. The moon diadema with a light ball on top of it connects her to the Divine source. The huge ball in front of her seems to be her womb. The manifestation is the unborn child in her womb, nothing is created yet, but everything is already alive. The dark looking stream, our unconsciousness, connects all of us to the source of Divine light. Like the High Priestess with the moon on her forehead, that receives the light from above, our unconsciousness receives the unlimited stream of inspiration from the pool of love and light. All we have to do is to be still.......and listen.......
