Tarot of the Crone- High Priestess
by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince

First I have to say *sorry* but I don't believe I can keep up with moderating two decks. I will chime in on other decks when I have time and feel I have something to add, but my commitment will be to describing my own deck-in-progress. I really appreciate this forum and the encouragement it gives me to put into words some of the thoughts I've had when creating the cards. Thanks for listening!

Priestess

The Priestess here is the Oracle. She is depicted as the foremost standing stone among a group of similar stones, but she has a face and her eyes glow with the same light of inspiration and knowledge as is reflected in the waning crescent above her head. There are ripple lines of energy in the earth radiating from each stone. Or the stones are set where the energy lines of the earth converge. Both are true, for the stones are a two-way channel, passing wisdom from the heart of the earth to the stars, and reading signs in the heavens for those on earth.

The Priestess is stone, because this knowledge is most often found in silence and stillness, with patience and devotion. I've always seen standing stones as beings who are listening, listening, and holding strongly to immense power and energies that might shatter a less grounded being.

The Priestess's wisdom may not be able to be expressed in words, but you know it when you feel the deep beat of the earth in your heart while the song of the stars rages in your soul.
