Spider "Intuition & Weaving of Fate"

"Spider shows up when we need to balance and work between past & future, physical & spiritual, male & female, waking & sleeping. Spider shows us how to weave today the dreams we want fulfilled tomorrow. Spider teaches the magic of creation, how to weave our own fates.

Spider teaches us to trust the subtle perceptions we experience, showing that there is more depth & more activity beneath the surface. They encourage us to use our creative opportunities and, by doing so, we take our Fate back within our own hands.

Spiders do a great deal of their weaving in the dark and out of sight, reminding us of how to express our creative energies. Do not be afraid to employ these energies in seemingly inaccessible areas. Weave your creative threads in the dark and when the sun hits them, they will glisten with intricate beauty."

I can make this depiction of The High Priestess "work" for me, but personally I see spider more as a Wheel of Fortune energy (i.e. the wheel, the web, the circuitous path of fate). And Andrews also endows this card with a lot of creative definitions which I view as more of a Magician kind of energy... But then that is just IMHO!

I tend to recognize this card as The High Priestess, but I overlay the author's interpretations with a lot of my own to mesh with my conceptualization of this archetypes energy.

The "intuition" part of his description I agree with completely. This card is that to me & much more. I see it as channels of intuition & perception open in all directions, many of which some people are afraid to tap into, hence the mystery & "veiled" associations of the archetype.

The High Priestess speaks softly. You only hear her if you really "listen"! Sometimes she speaks through dreams, visions, meditation, or that inner voice that just popped into your head. The High Priestess can take you beyond those veils, can dissolve those barriers & teach you on a multitude of different levels.

Some authors write of a "mysterious woman coming into your life" when speaking of this card. Though that CAN be the case, I find that more often than not that this mysterious woman is usually just the voice of intuition (frequently personified as female) that speaks to us all internally.

The High Priestess energy is one that I am quite comfortable with, being a double Pisces. I tend to draw this card a lot, and when I do I have learned to pay attention! [g]
