Kalevala Tarot - Nine of Stakes
By Kalervo Aaltonen & Taina Pailos
US Games Systems

A young man sits/lies next to the carcass of a moose he killed. Eight staves stand in a row behind the moose. Blood stains the young man's shirt and he holds one staff in his right hand. I can't tell if he's pinned under the moose, or sitting/ lying on the ground. The art is a bit odd.

LWB: You need to rise to your achievement.
Reversed: Opposing something now will just strengthen the oppression.

He's catching his breath, at any rate. The hunt was difficult, and bringing the moose back home will be difficult, but now he's got a break. For a minute. Actually, the real work starts now; getting it back, butchering it, and taking care of all the things you do with it - tan the leather, dry or smoke or salt the meat, whatever else they did. I know they used everything.

I'm sure he will have help in the work, but it's still a lot to do. Team effort is good; camaraderie is good. He will connect to others in all doing the work together. They'll sing songs together, drink together, laugh over the things that go wrong or are odd.

To draw this card in a reading would pull in those same energies - teamwork, cooperation, sharing, as well as the hard work involved in making a living.
