Tarot of the Gnomes - Nine of Wands
by Antonio Lupatelli
Publisher: Lo Scarabeo
ISBN 0-7387-0057-6

An aged gnome (silver hair and beard) winds a bandage around his head. I see no blood on his green shirt or red pants. A staff lies broken on the ground near him.

LWB: No wound exists that cannot be overcome with a little diligence.

Keyword: punishment

Diligence is the theme of the suit of wands.

Personally... This deck is definitely to be interpreted on its own, it doesn't have correspondences to other decks. :)

This card speaks more of karma than of "punishment" imposed by an outside authority. He made a mistake in practice, so he took the blow. Helps to accelerate the learning curve. He also doesn't seem to be very disturbed about this wound he took; he accepted the possibility of injury when he stepped into the ring.

We take risks, and sometimes it bites us. We feel like someone's out to "get" us, but really it's just the bumps that life tosses our way. This is the card that says to enjoy the hard lessons, for you only have to learn them once. A smaller lesson might need to be repeated.
