Blue Rose Tarot - Nine of Wands
Created by Paula Gibby
Published by Soul Guidance

Description:
Superman (the classic DC Comics version) is flying toward us against a fiery sky, with a city skyline at its base. We see a second outline of Superman beside the first, as if his power is too great to be contained in his physical form.

From the book:
Through its testing and permutations, our spiritual fire has been tempered by life experiences, thus attaining great strength and power. <snip> It is the strength of will that glows with a fire burning brightly for others to see. <snip>...such beings who carry the bright flame of inner strength within them seem almost supernatural to us. <snip> In a perfect world, where all energies manifest in a balanced manner, this would be the final number card in the suit. However this is not a perfect world, and even a superhero can overdo. He can take on too much ... too many worries, too many burdens. Always "saving the day" for others. But what about himself?

My thoughts:
This version of the 9 of Wands seems to me to be more positive than many of the other decks I've seen. Or maybe positive isn't quite the right word ... more active maybe. It's a "hero card", showing someone who is willing and able to take on odds that would seem insurmountable to many, and who usually succeeds in overcoming those odds. It shows the charge into battle rather than the pause that preceded it. But really I suppose the basic message is the same ... you have a battle ahead, so get ready. And remember everything has a cost.
