Silicon Valley Tarot - Lovers
Created & Illustrated by Thomas Scoville
Published by Steve Jackson Games, 1998
ISBN: 1-55634-362-0

Description:
The background is a solid purple. Near the top is a green ticker tape showing stock prices. Below that is a graph with a red line running upward. In front the graph are two hands holding full champaign glasses in a toast. That's it.

Quoting from the LWB:
"Patners, toast their success against a field of royal purple. Princes today - but for how long? Charts and tickers sound the cheers of the marketplace and the enthusiasm of investment brokers."

"Success, hard work, diligence, industry."

"Reversed: Instability, unproven worth, irrational exuberance."

My thoughts on the card:
Other than the two people whose hands we see and the implied choice of when to sell the stock, this card has nothing to do with the Lovers cards of other decks. This card is about making the big time and cashing in. As the text from the LWB imply, they are at the top of the Wheel of Fortune, and who knows what tomorrow will bring. There is a card in the Osho Zen Tarot which expresses the same situation, called Success. On the Osho Zen card a man is riding through a tickertape parade on a tiger which is walking across the world. A more universal image that that of the IPO card.

Since I feel that in the Silicon Valley Tarot monatary wealth is a metaphor for riches in any area of life, including spiritual, this card can then be of one reaching their goal or dream. Enjoy it while you can.
