Arcus Arcanum Tarot - Judgement

Judgment shows a pale blue figure reaching out from a vortex in the sky. His eyes are closed as he blows on a horn. A sword with runes inscribed on its blade is held in his right hand. A rainbow bridges the sky from the vortex to the earth. On the earth we see people rising up from the ground. A blonde woman in a white gown stands just beneath the horn blower, arms raised towards him as though in welcome or wonder. Some of the other figures also stare at the figure in the sky some in celebration others in awe. They seem to be raising their arms in victory. Beyond the people we see green hills framed by black peaks in the distance.
The Book says: The final liberation from the depths of darkness is ensured by the relationship with the supernatural; in this context, a decision of overriding importance is made, which makes it possible to follow one's real vocation after a difficult period. The relieving element consists in the fact that there are no more doubts about the decision made. The end of unpleasant times is ensured by the liberation of relief from pressing burdens or suffering; this may also be expressed in the form of a change or promotion to another position.
Bee's Buzz: The figure with the horn is reminiscent of Heimdall in Norse mythology. Heimdall is the guardian of Bifrost, the rainbow bridge to Asgard, home of the gods. He blows his horn at the start of Ragnarok, the beginning of the final battle of the gods, to call them to arms. In this image the people seem to be welcoming his horn. It seems to have roused them from their time in the darkness beneath the earth. They have been reawakened and welcome the call. Now is their chance to rouse themselves and break free of the darkness that held them in thrall. The rainbow symbolizes hope and magic, like the awe we often feel when we see a rainbow arch through the sky. These people are finally waking up, clearing the dirt from their eyes and are now ready to move forward with clear vision and a new sense of purpose. Judgment is about waking up to the realities of our lives. We have seen the new day dawning and celebrated the returning of the light and warmth. But now we must also allow ourselves to look at where we are, what we have accomplished and decide how to proceed. It is a time for clear-sightedness and realism. We can only clear the dirt from our eyes if we acknowledge that it is there. Judgment is not about punishment for past sins, but it is about looking at our behavior and seeing how it has impacted on our lives and those around us. It reminds me of what an alcoholic (or other substance abuser) must feel when they get clean and are finally able to see the devastation wrought in their wake. The options are to accept the responsibility for one's actions and move towards improving the situation or allowing it to overcome us and cause us to slink black into the darkness which hides the truth from us. Which choice will you make?
