4 of Wands - The Ba Bird Flies Above a Sacrificial Fire Amidst Temple Obelisks: In the forefront of this card we see an altar decorated with hieroglyphics with a sacred fire blazing away on the top of it. The altar sits on a straight road of paved tiles. Four golden yellow obelisks adorned with more hieroglyphics sit ahead of the altar - two on each side. The paved road leads to mountains
visible in the distance the glow with the light of the setting sun. Above the mountains is a deep blue sky filled with stars that seems to be originating from the tips of the obelisks. Above the sacred fire we see the Ba bird - the ancient Egyptian symbol of the freed soul.
The Book says: "[This card] symbolizes a creative completion and ending that can give you anew perspective. The ending of this part of your life, which manifests in the completion of the physical or creative task at hand has given you the ability, like the Ba, to transcend the normal, simple way of seeing the world and get a broader perspective. It is a moment of revelation, and through your ability to finish this creative task you are given a chance for growth and change through the ability to see yourself from this new perspective. . . This card also calls on you to examine how your completed creative act contributes to the structure of your community and world. . . . Like the Ba bird, we have been freed in order to gain a new perspective on the creative process and to see our place in the formation of community."
Bee's Buzz: I see this card as representing creative inspiration and energy that is based on a solid foundation. The 4 obelisks provide a solid base from which to begin exploring. The sacred fire is the sacred inspiration we often feel when we least expect it. To me this card shows the spiritual soaring we feel when our hard work and efforts have resulted in a transcendent insight that sends our spirit soaring. I would imagine this is how Einstein felt when he discovered the Theory of Relativity or the way Michelangelo felt when he finally decided on a theme for the Sistine Chapel. Or even how Alexandra Genetti (or all those who have created their own Tarot decks) felt when her vision gelled together. It is beyond "how will this benefit me" and rises to the level of "this is my gift to all". The solid foundation beneath us allows our spirit to soar every
higher and discover a whole new perspective.
