Tarot of the Spirit - Four of Fire
Pamela Eakins, Ph.D., Scribe; Joyce Eakins, MFA, Painter
Publisher: U.S. Games Systems
ISBN 0-88079-544-1

4 of Fire (Flame of Spirit) shows a band of rainbow colors stretching across the bottom of the cord. Resting atop the blue band are golden diamond shapes. Nestled in a background of washed blue sits a black circle. The circle surrounds a teal blue box which frames a green square. Resting inside the green square diamond shape of blended white and blue. At the top of the card are additional bands of colors with 4 red six-pointed stars decorated it.

LWB says: A phase of development is complete. The structure you built based on revelations and good intentions is strong but in some ways you no longer feel connected to that structure. Know that old structures must frequently be abandoned to make way for new growth. You are growing, beginning a new phase in your life. It is as if your own personal wheel of fortune is turning again. This is necessary in order for you to grow. Search your heart for the right course of action.

Bee's Buzz: This card gives me a sense of boxed energy, focused and building up until it is ready for use. The diamond shape seems to consist of coruscating bands of white and blue which seem to be moving. The green box that surrounds the diamond seems to both contain and feed this energy. The black circle suggests that this energy is being cut off from the other colorful shapes on the card. As though it needs to be separated so that it can become more focused and powerful. Somehow it brings to mind an ascetic or a spiritual practitioner who decides to cut themselves off from outer distractions in order to focus more on their spiritual path. They have done the groundwork and studying and now need to learn how to refine these skills and apply this knowledge in their lives. Somehow this reminds me of the logic used to justify celibacy in a priesthood or religious order. And as we've seen this can be both positive and negative.
