In this card, we see a newly married couple standing in the center of four wands. The wands are decorated with garlands of greenery and red flowers symbolizing growth and passion. There are white flowers scattered on the ground around them. White is the color of purity, cleansing, rebirth and unity. There is a chapel in the background as well as people waving and, evidently, wishing the best for the couple. The bride is looking at the groom and he is looking straight ahead.
In the Book
"In the four of wands we see yet another celebration; it is a time of prosperity and movement to a more stable period of life symbolized by the marriage couple. They have gained the freedom to forge ahead in their new life, but to achieve this they have to leave their old life, childhood, and family behind. This card augurs well for the future and could incorporate a change of residence or changes for the better in the domestic environment."
To me, this card speaks of stability and celebration. It is a coming together of friends and family to celebrate and to give their blessings to the newlyweds as they begin the journey of their new life together. The groom is already looking ahead to what comes next and the bride is looking to him, trusting him to guide them on their journey. They are standing apart from the crowd symbolizing their newfound unity. The wedding is not only a time of celebration but a time to unite their energies and to build the energy they will need as they begin their new life together.
