Shining Tribe - Four of Trees
Rachael Pollack
Publisher: Llewellyn

The card shows a brown building that is a typical square with peaked roof. Inside the structure is a golden sun with eight rays, it hangs in the center of the structure. There is a red double door with golden handles, also centered, and at the base. The home has two trees that appear to be inside the house making up the walls and ceiling. The house sits on a green ground. Forward and encompassing the home are another two trees that also bend toward the center of the home from a distance. There is one yellow grain growing in the bottom center of the card.

The Four of Trees from the Shining Tribe draws the eye in. My eyes are drawn right into the red double door. The card feels safe and comforting. I think it shows being safe secure & grounded. It also says to me that although I have what I need there is room for growth. The house is within the 1st set of trees made within the arching branches. The outside trees provide extra protection and also the possibility to fill that space as well. Maybe with the growth we have to leave some of our protection behind. If the house were to grow to the next level of the trees it would not have an added protection.

The sun above the red door seems to say there is warmth and happiness here. The wheat at the bottom center of the card suggests bounty. The card to me talks about having what you need being satisfied. Being grounded in your home and self. I really like the colors in this card the all the colors are very bright, and the green of the trees and the grass really makes me feel the life in this card.

Celebrating life. Being happy & healthy, having what is needed without feeling stagnation. Being grounded and enjoying the earth and all that it gives us; food, shelter, animals, life. Our own blood pumping through our veins and knowing we are alive and enjoying it. The card also suggests structure, but does not feel confining. Finding the structure needed to live in this world.

Rachel Pollack’s poem from the book:
"Shelter us, cool us.
Lift us, conceal us.
Parades of bright color,
a sky of green leaves."
