Little Red Cap shows a young girl with long
dark hair standing outside a gate leading to a small house. She
wears pink dress and has a basket full of apples over her arm. She
is looking at a butterfly that rests on her forefinger. Atop her
dark hair sits a red cap with a yellow ball at the tip. She stands
in front of a group of trees. We see a wolf wrapped around the
trunk of one tree and watching Little Red Cap. But she seems
unaware of the wolf as she is contemplating the butterfly on her
finger.
The Book says: Little Red Cap, also
known as Little Red Riding Hood, is a story of childhood
innocence, curiosity, excitement at the onset of a journey,
temptation, and the primary stages of becoming an individual. Sent
to her grandmother's cottage by her mother, Little Red Cap is
given a basket of goodies and told to follow the path and avoid
the dangers of the woods. As a naive and fearless child, she is
curious about the world, open, and has no concept of the dark
forces the may be ready to steer her off course and away from her
destination. The wolf lurking in the woods stands for the dark,
unintegrated aspect of consciousness and the temptation to stray
from one's higher path in life. He signifies the antisocial
tendencies within ourselves and reappears in various guises -
wicked witch, evil queen, fearful giant - throughout the Major
Arcana.

Bees Buzz: This card reminds me to
never lose the wonder of the fairy tale. To believe in fairies and
that wishes come true. Just as Little Red Cap focuses more on the
lovely butterfly than the potential dangers around her. She is the
wonder of youth and innocence - how we all are before we become
aware of the realities around us. Little Red Cap offers us the
opportunity to get back in touch with that mindset, even if only
for a moment. It's similar to seeing the world through a child's
eyes, even if only for a minute. It can be earth shattering and
cause us to question things we have taken for granted because
we're "grown-ups" now. Little Red Cap encourages us to find that
child within ourselves and let her run free, even if it's only for
a moment.
Bees Blessings,
Debbie
