Tarot Deck was created to be useful for spiritual searching. The
Gill Deck offers a mirror in which one can see oneself as
objectively as possible, and acts as a guide by which the seeker
is lead. As for any Deck to work, there must also be a living,
growing dynamic bond between the seeker and the object in
question.
By using the symbolic pictures of
ourselves and the ancient path, the tarot speaks to our
subconscious, which reflects, like a mirror, both the accessible
and deeper hidden parts of ourself. These tend to be the areas
which we tend to ignore.
The Gill Tarot was created based
upon the teachings of the Kabbalah. Using the Kabbalah as the
background for the Gill Deck the seeker is taken through the Tree
of Life to study and learn what the base of the question is and
then explore the fears, losses and gains to finely reach the final
outcome or solution to the problem. You can fine an illustration
of the "Tree of Life" on the back of the cards. The Minor Arcana
comprises four suits of 14 cards each: Ace through 10 and 4 court
cards, which are traditionally King, Queen, Knight or Prince, and
Page or Princess. The Major Arcana are 22 trump cards, usually
numbered 0 through 21 and displaying such names as, "The Empress"
or "The Fool." The suits of the Gill Tarot are swords, wands, cups
and disks.
The suggested layout for the "Gill
Tarot" is that of the "Tree of Life" starting at the Feet or roots
and following the Kabbalah through the Tree to the Heavens. To
better understand the Kabbalah I would suggest that you read ,
Robert Wang's The Qabalistic Tarot, published by Samuel Weiser or
Elizabeth Clare Prophet, Kabbalah Key to Your Inner Power,
published by Summit University Press.
Subject: "The Gill Tarot" The
Fool
Many feel that the Fool is unable
to pin down. Many of those who read the Tarot believe that when we
think that we have an understanding of the Fool, that he will
change and go away and laugh with joy in his heart. The Fool in
the "Gill Tarot" on the other hand gives the reading not of the
taker of chance but rather that of the young Adventure. The person
who is about to embark on a new road.Looking towards the Heavens
carrying the mantel of the Universe and have at his/her finger
tips the tools of the elements. This does not mean though that the
Fool know what to do with these tools, rather that they are
available if the fool know how to access them. The small White Dog
represents the purity and loyalty found with in the spirit of the
Fool. Stepping off into the Air or void show the trust in the
adventure of the unknown. There are a few clouds in the background
but for the most part the Sun is warm and the future looks bright.
The card carries the number but
when looking at the card it could also be given the number 22 as a
power pure number.
In the "Gill Tarot" Elizabeth
Josephine Gill represents the symbolic picture of the Fool as that
of the "divine spark" ancient child soul of man.
Working as a Healer I relate to
color and within the "Gill Tarot" Fool card I find not only the
elements needed for healing the colors of different levels of the
"Chakras" and with this I also go back and associate with the
elements ... The Air about the Fool on the edge, The Firey color
of the sky set off by that of the Sun, the Disk in his hand
reminds me of the seas and ocean of our planet which he is holding
within the reach of his future. Then the sweet Mother earth
Herself is reflected in the soil of the Mountains which he is
stepping off of. The Higher Spirit or fifth element can be seen in
the companion of the Fool, the little white dog.
