Shining Tribe - Five of Trees

Publisher: Llewellyn
In the center (left) is a tree. The tree is tall, going from the bottom of the card to the top. There are no leaves on the tree although the limbs are outlined in green. Behind the tree are 4 buildings, all shades of brown with yellow, & purple accents. The buildings are all different shapes and sizes, but they are modern city buildings. In the top of the tree is what I 1st thought was a cup. It is a baby in a cradle. The sun is up in the right hand corner of the card with 4 rays coming off the sun. The sun reminds me of a cross with a circle in it. Although the sun is up, the card is dark. The sky is purple and there are lights on in all the windows on the building. In the bottom right there is an animal. It looks somewhat like a horse.
The card gives me a sense of unreality. That this is either another world or a dream. Is the baby dreaming? Is it someone dreaming of themselves as a baby? Is the animal not a horse and something to be feared and the baby is up in the tree as protection? It's kind of scary... the card may be indicating that it is a time to listen to our dreams and inner reality. The key to the question may be hidden in our own mind. How are you hiding? If you are the animal, what is being kept from you? Or what are you keeping from yourself? It is a card that shows the need to look inside. Take the time to listen to yourself. If you remember your dreams (which I don't), pay attention to what they might be showing you. The activity of this card is an inner one.
Rachel talks about shamanism, and a story of shaman. That future shamans rest in cradles at the top "of a great tree". The animal is a "creature from the unconscious, set loose in the outer world". In the dm for the card she say that it may be indicating the healing or development of a "secret self." This all goes on below the surface. We are not ready to show or share this with others yet.
Rachel's Poem:
"He sleeps in secret, high in the boughs.
When the wind blows the cradle will rock.
The tree never breaks."
