Halloween Tarot - Five of Imps
By Kipling West; book by Karin Lee

Book says: "This looks like five imps are fighting, but don't be fooled. The Imps are pure energy, and these mischievous rabble-rousers are just blowing off some steam. Imps can't stand stagnation, and if nothing is going on, they will often create conflicts where none existed.
The number-five cards in the Tarot generally signal some loss or difficulty, but the Imps are of the opinion that change is good. Next time the creative embers in your life start to go cold, take a hint from the Five of Imps--rub some sticks together."
The first thing I get from this card is the "mosh pit" (probably because Iron Maiden came up in regard to the AP 5W). Moshing is dance for the non-dancer, sport for the unathletic. It's exhilarating, sweaty and exhausting the way sex can be when it's filled with passion. These
Imps may be a crowd of rowdies and rebels, but all they'll kick is grass. They're not out for blood (not much, or at least not real blood anyway).
Also, as the Four of Wands can be seen as a rite of womanhood (I think menarche was mentioned), the Five of Wands can be seen as a rite of manhood. Hunts, jousts, duels, sports, running with the bulls—each having its own meaning of "first blood." (Hmm, and menarche too!) For an adolescent boy in the past, it may have meant a first kill, first injury, first score on an opponent. This blood is connected to youthful virility and fertility, vitality and passion. You all have been there. What was your teenage passion? What made your face warm? Music, sports, love, rebellion? Did that energy flare, flame or sputter in regard to your passion today?
The Imps look like they could be getting ready for the upcoming Summer Olympics, getting psyched up for the competition. Looks like a bunch of pole vaulters, bragging about who's best. Pole vaulting is not a team effort or a contact sport. It's an individual's best effort against
other individuals' best efforts. Conflict.
On the more negative side, the Five of Imps can indicate lack of cooperation, things going in many different or unexpected directions, that buzz of irritation or aggravation that gets under one's skin and on one's nerves (PMS). And if my daughter ever listens to Slipknot, I will kill her. Terror trash metalcore.
Reversed would be more like teen apathy, reticence, avoiding eye contact, etc. Also, resting on one's laurels without effort toward maintenance or improvement.
One Love All Love,
Moonchild
