Tarot of the Gnomes - Five of Wands
by Antonio Lupatelli
Publisher: Lo Scarabeo
ISBN 0-7387-0057-6

The 5 of wands shows a brown rat in mid-air, almost as if he was falling onto his right side from a height above the ground. He's kind of cute. The keyword is Growth.

LWB: Never underestimate every little problem.

My take: It looks like he got zonked with the club floating above him. He also looks a little startled. This one seems out of sync with the keyword. This says to me of the little surprises that waylay us on the way to our goal, the thing we almost trip over on the sidewalk of life.

Of course, nearly tripping over something means we learn to maintain our balance (or we fall, and that is its own learning experience) so I guess in the end I can see how Growth comes with the falling rat. Our rat is not actually contacting the ground yet, so he may not actually fall all the way. He may recover in time.
