The 8 of wands (peppermills!) shows Alice holding a pepper-mill, looking suspiciously at a larger-than-life dog who seems to be chasing her. The other pepper-mills in the card are lined up in pairs, as a sort of boundary between Alice and the dog. The "mate" to the one Alice holds stands next to the dog by itself.
From the LWB: Swift activity. A sudden progress or movement. Hasty movements. Advancement too quick for easy assimilation.
Reversed: A dispute among a previously close-knit group. Jealous. A family quarrel.
This says to learn to plan a few moves ahead. Like playing a game of chess. Anticipate your obstacles. The dog's tail is up, and his shoulders are down, inviting Alice to play. The problem arises in the difference of size - Alice is smaller than the dog, who might very well injure her while "playing".
The card warns, don't leap before you look; there are unintended consequences. Pay attention.
