Tarot of Mermaids - Eight of Wands
art by Mauro De Luca
published by Lo Scarabeo

Card description: Wands are represented by oars in the Mermaid Tarot. In this card, eight oars are rowing together in formation, like one of those long boats in the Olympics. Neither the boat nor the rowers are depicted; all we can see are the oars and the water they are cutting through.

The LWB says: Movement, speed, unstoppable current.

This is one of my favorite images for the Eight of Wands. I can feel the movement and the speed in this card, and the teamwork and effort needed to row the boat even faster through the water. In my mind's eye I can see the men rowing, shirtless and tan from the sun, sweat glistening on muscles straining to pull those oars a little harder, go a little faster, and win the race! Yowsaa!! I think I need to be dipped in some cold water.

In a reading, this card could mean:
Events are happening rapidly.
Teamwork is needed to reach the goal.
Now is the time to take action.
The situation is unstoppable.
Get some fresh air and exercise.
Hang on and enjoy the ride!
