Halloween Tarot - Eight of Imps
By Kipling West; book by Karin Lee
US Games Systems, Inc.

The first thing I noticed about this card is that it is one of four Imp cards in which the Imps have wings. The other cards have only a single Imp, and are the Ace, Page and Knight. The Ace has eight floating oak leaves.

Lee: "After flying about madly on Halloween night, eight imps are looking for a place to land. Though they've been characteristically gung ho for hours, they are sleepy, and frankly getting a bit grumpy. Traditionally, the Eight of Imps signifies action -- forward movement and swiftness. The danger inherent in this card is in moving too quickly and trying to do too much. While it does not suggest monomaniacally zeroing in on one aspect of your life, it does suggest the need to streamline. Doing too much can diminish the quality of what you're doing -- in their rush, a few of these o'er-hasty imps have dropped their arrows!"

Well, she *says* they've dropped their arrows, but I think maybe they've used them for something. Maybe spear fishing in that river below. What are they doing with arrows in the first place? Why are they all looking down, except for the two who seem to be flying toward the house? Why is the black cat hiding in the house? She's usually more involved.

For me, right now, this card represents the hectic day before departure. Clean the house, empty the fridge, water the plants, cook up whatever's left in the garden, "nomail" my group accounts, finish the laundry, PACK . . . Oops! Don't forget the passports!

One Love All Love,
Moonchild
