Fairy Tarot - Eight of Acorns
Artwork: Antonio Lupatelli (Major Arcana, Aces & Courts), Richard Doyle (pip cards)
Book: Helene and Doris Saltarini
Publisher: Lo Scarabeo

In the Fairy Tarot, Wands have been replaced by Acorns, and are associated with the Element of Air. Eight acorns are arranged pip-style on the upper half of the card. The lower half shows a long line of tiny faeries on the move. At their size, the journey is long, the uneven field a series of rough hills and valleys. They use tall weeks for walking sticks, helping each other to keep moving.

Excerpts from the book:
“If this card appears in your oracle, get moving at whatever cost, as it indicates that the action will be timely, whereas doing nothing will cause damage. In another sense it says that you can begin a new project, a new situation or that a parenthesis has closed and you are now free to initiate something else.”

Card upright: renewal; change; obstacles overcome; positive enterprise; a timely trip.

Reversed: a heavy situation that blocks you; obstacles; unexpected nuisances; a trip delayed.

My take on it:
Like most decks, movement is key here, but it’s us who are moving rather than things moving quickly around us. The phrase this brings to mind is “He who hesitates is lost.” When things around us are harmful or no longer nurturing us, it’s time to pull up stakes and move on. Don’t linger over a bad situation; learn from it and move on.
