Ace of Wands shows a collage of images. At the bottom of the card portion of what seems to be an Aztec-type calendar. Next to this are green leaves in a vulva shape framing a pale golden-green body of water, which leads to the shores of golden brown hills. Over these hills sits a golden sun amidst a deep gold sky. Just above the calendar we see a series of doorways, one leading into the other like a visual puzzle. Above his is a partially visible earth-like orb. Next to that sits a stylized sun with a human face and stars on each side. Above this are two more earth-like orbs partially visible. On the right side of the card we see a totem pole-like object.
Traditional meaning: Inspired consciousness; desire for self-growth; burst of energy; new idea; a gift of strength, power, great sexual energy and of the love of living; positive new beginnings; creativity, energy and initiative; planting the seeds for a new public identity; enterprise; power; illumination.
Bee's Buzz: At first glance this card's imagery is almost overwhelming. It's almost too hard to focus on one thing. But gradually my attention was drawn to the sun framed by the vulva leaves. It just struck me as an image of rebirth and new journey to the transcendent shores of illumination and divine energy. The doorways show that it will take more than just one step, it is a journey through a number of different levels and the Ace of Wands is just the first step of this journey. Even the totem pole reinforces this concept with its carving stacked atop carving. It is a card of unlimited potential and creative energy. In fact there is so much energy that we are almost overwhelmed by it at first. We need to focus on one area at a time in order to start our journey and find that creative spark of divine inspiration within us all.
