Halloween Tarot - Ace of Imps
By Kipling West; book by Karin Lee

The Ace of Imps shows a purple hand emerging from a cloud, holding a smiling red imp by his tail. Blowing oak leaves surround the imp, against the background of the starry sky. It almost looks like he is juggling or playing with the leaves. The black cat looks on, as always.
The book says: "Congratulations, you have the imp by the tail! You are in control, and your new projects are bound to be successful. Since the Imps combine the energetic spark of the Fire element with the onset of new enterprises and ideas, the Ace of Imps gives you a literal thumbs up to set your fiery, unstoppable creative impulses to motion. The eight fall leaves, symbolizing the cycles of growth, recall the earliest of Halloweens, when Druids revered oak trees. Take advantage of the creative breakthrough offered in this card. The sky is the limit for your endeavors, as the Hermes-like winged Ace of Imps is trying to tell you.
Divinatory Meanings: The promising new beginning of a project, idea, or adventure. A moment of illumination, an impulse to do something new. Energy, vitality, enthusiasm.
Reversed: Chaotic, unfocused, unmanageable energy. Damaging overzealousness. A false start. Bleak plans."
The Eight, Page and Knight are the only other Imp cards in which the Imps have wings.
The key word that pops into my head for this card is "Instigator." An instigator is a person, thing or event which provokes action. This can mean many things, such as inspiration, motivation, prodding, incitement and prankishness (is that a word?). Since it is the Halloween Tarot, and the suit of Imps I'm really reminded of the neighborhood kid who liked tricks more than treats, and tried to get others in on his schemes. I can't go into details though; I'm sworn to eternal secrecy!
One Love All Love,
