The Ace of Wands shows a gnome standing next to a tree that he has chopped the bottom away from -- it stands by the core alone. Wood chips lie on the ground. He stands with one hand on the tree. His axe rests on the ground.
LWB: The title of the card is "work". Give form to something through personal work.
This little gnome seems almost sorry for cutting down the tree, yet knows its necessity. Is he seeing the potential in the tree? What it can become? Knowing that we can always cut the tree more, but you can't make it bigger. Make sure that every cut is necessary.
The tree still stands, but only by the core. The inner most, become visible. What is your core? Some things do their work best by remaining hidden, but others will be better once made visible. The grain in the wood only shows when the wood is cut; when the tree is growing, all you see is bark.
This card says that while we have lots of ideas, pick one at a time to focus on, and do it right. Ideas are flying around the room, a veritable crowd of them, but we can only do one thing at a time. Take the time to do it right.
